Specialized Eating Disorder Therapy

Are you interested in improving your relationship with food & your body?

Change and recovery are possible.

Move toward body acceptance and food freedom.

Youth, adults, and families experiencing the impact of disordered eating/eating disorders benefit from specialized treatment.

  • Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned. Moving at your pace. Collaborative decision-making.

  • Recovery is not linear and can be a challenging journey. Every step counts, and your progress will always be recognized and highlighted.

  • Helping you develop a strong community care team, potentially including family, spouses, friends, doctors, dieticians, and psychiatrists.

We treat all eating disorders.

Symptoms common in eating disorders:

  • Restricting food intake (eating much less than usual, skipping meals).

  • Binge eating (eating large amounts of food in a short time, feeling out of control).

  • Compensatory behaviours after eating (purging, self-induced vomiting, laxative or diuretic misuse, over-exercising).

  • Ritualized eating (cutting food into tiny pieces, eating foods in a strict order, only eating “safe” foods).

  • Secretive eating or hiding food, lying about eating habits.

  • Frequent dieting or extreme focus on “clean” or “perfect” eating.

  • Intense worry about weight, shape, or appearance.

  • Preoccupation with food, calories, labels, or body measurements.

  • Obsessive thoughts about food and body interfering with daily life.

  • Avoiding social situations that involve food (parties, restaurants).

People struggling with any disordered eating deserve support. Eating disorders are serious mental health disorders that require as early of intervention as possible.

Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches

  • Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Adolescents

We prioritize evidence-based treatment approaches for adolescents dealing with eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED).

Treatment is designed to empower parents and caregivers with the tools necessary to support their children through the healing process.

Youth are supported to gain more awareness and insight. Ultimately, the hope is for them to self-manage and stay healthy long-term!

    FBT follows two phases:

    1. Refeeding and symptom interruption, aiming to restore nutritional balance and address harmful behaviours surrounding food. During this stage, caregivers play a critical role in providing meal support and intervening in unhealthy eating behaviours.

    2. The gradual return of independence with food choices and exercise. This transition is essential for fostering a healthy relationship with food and promoting autonomy while ensuring ongoing support from caregivers.

Our framework is deeply rooted in the Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating principles.

We believe that with the right support and guidance, both teens and their families can navigate the challenges of eating disorders and work toward lasting recovery.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/DBT for Adults

Our top priority is exploring and improving your relationship with food, exercise, and your body. Clients are supported to address body image concerns and cultivate a greater sense of body acceptance.

Intuitive eating promotes a flexible, mindful, and compassionate approach to food. If you’re body is malnourished, we can support you in implementing mechanical eating first.

Utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities, clients can work towards healing from various eating disorders, including Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, OSFED, Bulimia, and Anorexia Nervosa.

My approach is deeply rooted in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating emphasizing dignity and respect for all people.

Clients are equipped with tools and strategies to foster a positive relationship with food and their bodies, helping them to break free from harmful cycles and develop sustainable habits that enhance their quality of life.

Healing is viewed holistically and clients are encouraged to take healing at their own pace. Clients feel supported every step of the way.

I am also experienced in advocacy and can help you navigate complex systems, including referrals to the regional eating disorders program and tertiary eating disorder programs across BC.
