Victoria Eating Disorder Therapy… What to Expect.

RECOVERY is possible.

What happens during treatment?

Clients who are experiencing Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating are:

  • provided with a safe space to reflect on their relationship with food, exercise, and their body.

  • treated with respect, dignity, compassion, and care. Hanna is aligned with HAES, intuitive eating, and trauma-informed care.

  • supported to learn and practice new coping strategies to better manage distressing emotions and experiences.

  • supported to make meaningful changes in their lives.

    • This might look like:

      • learning to start mechanical eating, mindful eating, or intuitive eating principles.

      • examining their relationship with exercise and developing movement practices that serve them.

      • establishing a supportive care team. This can include working with medical professionals and parents to implement Family-Based Treatment (FBT).

      • challenging fear foods and restrictive food rules to feel free to eat whatever they want.

      • practicing body neutrality or positivity to improve body image.

      • developing greater self-compassion and self-acceptance to live a full and meaningful life.
